Credit cards are cards that have a practical payment function besides having a credit card is something that can make us a little proud. Because not everyone can have a credit card. As we know, there are administrative rules for credit card applicants. Both in terms of income and work. Credit cards can also increase our prestige or in other words raise social status.
But make no mistake, this card is also very vulnerable to crime and misuse. With technology that is growing rapidly today. Credit cards are one of the most widely used payment instruments. Moreover, online store payments often use electronic payments as payments. Whether it’s by transfer, debit or credit card.
From this gap many people misuse technology to break into the existing security system on credit cards. The method varies, some steal data from users or others use the internet to retrieve information on a credit card.
Get to know the Credit Card Transaction System
It is better if we recognize the payment system using a credit card. In Indonesia we use two credit card payment systems. The first system is the magnetic stripe system and the second is the chip system. The system that uses a magnetic strip is to physically swipe the card and we will put a signature.
To avoid card misuse, then look at the cashier who swiped our card on the device, avoid swiping cards as much as two or more because it is prone to data theft. In addition, such a system also has many weaknesses, including falsifying the user’s card signature
The next is a transaction system using a PIN (Personal Identification Number). In this system it is relatively more secure, so choose to use a PIN instead of signing. And avoid letting this PIN be owned by someone else, don’t divulge this number to anyone. Because it will be fatal and prone to abuse.
Maintaining the Confidentiality of Card Numbers and CVV
Keeping the CVV (Cardholder Verification Value) number and language must also be done. Not only that card number can also be misused if it is easy or known by people. In general, the CVV is 3 digits for the master card and visa while for American Express is 4 digits. This code is located on the back of the card. Therefore keep this code secret.
Don’t Take a Credit Card
Avoid photocopying or photographing the face of the credit card, because this will provide a lot of information from the contents of the card that is from the number printed on the front of the card.
Keep your real mother’s real name a secret
Keep the biological mother’s name a secret, because the biological mother’s name is also a tool for misusing credit cards. The biological mother’s name will be a mandatory question by the bank when verifying by telephone, this is done as proof that we are a valid cardholder.
Maintain the Confidentiality of a Cell Phone Number
In addition to card numbers, we must also maintain the confidentiality of cellphone numbers that are commonly used or registered with the card issuing bank. Because the bank will verify via sms and enter the code that you must enter in the transaction using a credit card. By breaking into your number, the offender will have the opportunity to commit a credit card crime.
Always Take Care Every Time Credit Card Transactions. Be aware of each transaction is something we must do, record all transactions and keep the transaction evidence no later than the bill is issued after three months runs.
