Conroe Parks and Recreation

Sign up for the Conroe Youth Flag Football spring season for boys and girls ages 6-13. Your child will have fun playing flag football as they develop speed, skill and agility. The cost is $30 for Conroe residents and $37 for non-residents. The deadline for registration is January 25. All teams will train and play games weekly at Carl Barton, Jr. Park. A game jersey will be provided for the eight-game season. Volunteer opportunities are available for coaches, assistant coaches and team parents. Coaches must pass a background check and attend a coaching training and meeting. Mandatory player evaluation on January 29. Fathers and daughters will enjoy an enchanted evening of dinner, dancing, photo booth and more. The annual Daddy Daughter Dance will take place on Saturday, February 26 from 6-9 p.m. at the Magnolia Event Center. The dance is for girls ages 4 and up. Rainbow Trout Bottom

Texas Parks and Wildlife will make the first delivery of rainbow trout to the pond at Carl Barton, Jr. Park on February 3. Approximately 2,500 trout will be stocked in 2022. Anglers under the age of 17 are not required to have a fishing license. There is no size limit and the daily bag limit is five trout. Barton Park Pond is classed as a community fishing lake and therefore anglers may fish with no more than two rods. Disabled access is available. Park hours are daylight until dusk. senior dances

Join the fun at senior dances. Couples and singles are welcome at these weekly dances featuring bands ranging from Country & Western to Golden Oldies. Line dances and mixers involve everyone. Dances are held on Friday nights at the City of Conroe Activity Center, 1204 Candy Cane Lane. The cost is $5 per person at the door. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dancing starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. The next bands are Grateful Geezers (January 28). Rod Jacques Basketball Academy

If you love basketball, want to learn the game, improve your technique, are ready to work hard, want to make friends and have fun at the same time, Rod Jacques Basketball Academy is waiting for you! Registration is for boys and girls in grades 3-12. Cost is $80 for Conroe residents, $100 for non-residents. Academy sessions ongoing every month. Big BAM Tennis Academy

The Big BAM Tennis Academy strives to improve tennis skills through discipline, sportsmanship and safety. The program is for girls and boys ages 5-18 and teaches all skill levels from beginner to advanced. The cost for four sessions is $60, or eight sessions for $100. Conroe Aged Center

The Conroe Senior Center provides camaraderie and fun through a variety of activities for active adults 55 and older. Bingo, cards and dominoes, painting, crafts, films, holiday celebrations, guest speakers and other special activities are part of each week. Connect with friends, socialize and stay connected to the community. The center is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and lunch is served daily. Teen Adventure Program

Designed for teens in grades 6-8, this program provides general instruction in fun outdoor activities to encourage teamwork and develop leadership skills. All equipment is provided, but teenagers are encouraged to bring their own. The cost of the program is per weekend experience and does not exceed $15!
