DERRY – Derby Day returns to Derry.
And that means a day full of all things honoring various types of derby action, including a youth fishing derby in Hood Park and downtown activities honoring the spring tradition of the Kentucky Derby as well as specials. of restaurant, family activities, music, food and much more.
Derby Day is May 7 and the day gets off to an early start at Hood Park and its pond where the Derry Lions Club and Derry Parks and Recreation host the longtime youth fishing derby starting at 7.30am and continuing until noon.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., pop-up family activities take place along Broadway and include free crafts, games, giveaways, live music, balloon art provided by Silly Solutions, a truck B’s Tacos catering kit, a bike helmet giveaway and more.
The Derry History Museum also pays homage to the first American man in space and East Derry native, Alan B. Shepard Jr., with free tours of the museum located on the lower level of the Adams Memorial Building.
All-day sidewalk sales will be held as well as Kentucky Derby-themed restaurant specials.
