Emirates News Agency – Ruler of Sharjah issues Executive Order on Sharjah Fisheries Resources Authority

SHARJAH, 5th September, 2022 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued Executive Order No. (3) regulating the Sharjah Fisheries Resources Authority (SFRA) .

The Executive Order states that the seat of authority shall be in the city of Sharjah, and by decision of the Executive Council of Sharjah, it may establish branches or offices in the rest of the cities and regions of the emirate.

According to the decree-law, the authority aims to preserve and develop fisheries wealth and ensure food security, in addition to reviving the fishing profession and supporting the local market by selling fishing equipment at competitive prices.

The decree law stipulates that the authority draws up general policies and strategic plans for the emirate, and proposes necessary legislation and regulations related to the work of the authority, in addition to raising awareness of the importance of preserving wealth. fisheries. The authority will work towards the conclusion of contracts, agreements, memorandums of understanding and partnerships after their approval, representing the emirate in local, regional and international conferences and meetings, and participating in all activities and marine festivals inside and outside the emirate.

The Authority has a Chairman who is appointed by decree of the Amir, assisted by a sufficient number of staff and experts in accordance with its organizational structure. The functions of the President are to propose the general policy and strategy necessary to achieve the objectives of the Authority, to supervise the functioning of the Authority in accordance with the laws and regulations in force, to prepare the annual budget and the account end of the Authority.
