Long-awaited Sports Story will launch in December with a rainbow of activities

Capping off today’s excellent Indie World presentation was a sequel to Golf – er, rather, the sequel to the famous Golf Story, Sports’ long history in development. This follow-up RPG not only includes tennis golf and football/soccer to start with, but even more disciplines to unlock as you rank up, including BMX, volleyball, mini-golf, cricket, and more.

But sports aren’t the only thing this title has in store. Explore dungeons, spy, befriend locals, hit the mall, and venture into the wilderness. What does all this have to do with sports? We will have to see. We already know that golf and tennis (and probably now football too) have full career modes, so hopefully more and more sports will have some form of progression or development as you progress through the game.

Here’s Nintendo’s full description:

Sports Story is a sports RPG like no other. Featuring a mix of sports and athletic activities wrapped up in one big story. With a slew of characters to meet, you’ll make plenty of friends and foes along the way. Sports Story isn’t just about sports, it’s a complete sports adventure.

– Play and master 8 unique golf courses. Climb the ranks of the world tennis circuit. Create your own football team. Your sporting destiny is in your hands.

– Travel by train, helicopter, and barge as you explore dungeons, abandoned ruins, and the mysterious Wildlands.

– Increase your sports ranking to unlock new and varied activities like BMX, mini golf, cricket, volleyball, fishing and more.

Sports Story is rocking for closings next month, in December 2022.
