Lost Ark Trade Skills Explained

Business skills are a big part of lost ark – in fact, an entire sub-menu and hotbar is dedicated to tracking your level, equipped items, and unlocked skills. You will generally gain a new ability for each trade skill every ten levels (such as the ability to gather new resource nodes), although mastery skills (which grant benefits such as a better chance of finding rare resources or improve the durability of your tool) are generally reinforced at all levels.

Much of the trade skill system is shared among its six subgroups, but here’s a closer look at each.

Excavation is one of the most labor-intensive job skills. lost ark. It’s also unique to the game – while fishing and foraging are included in most MMORPGs, excavation will be unfamiliar to even veterans of the genre.

To dig, you will need to use two different abilities on your hotbar. First, you’ll need to use Sonar, which will let you know if there’s a relic in your vicinity. It will also give you visual cues to let you know if you’re getting close to a hidden object – much like a lost ark version of the “Hot or Cold” game you played as a kid.

Once near the hidden relic, you will need to activate the Relic Search skill to locate its position. You can then dig up and retrieve the relic. It’s not for the faint-hearted, though you can unlock some serious rewards by participating in the research.

Unlike digging, fishing is about as easy as it gets. Simply walk to a fishing spot and cast your line using the Float Fishing skill. You’ll eventually unlock new abilities like Throw Bait or Net Casting, though their mechanics remain largely the same.

As you level up, you improve your chances of catching rare fish and reduce the time before fish start biting. This is a basic skill (lost ark himself describes it as “boring”), but there’s no doubt that it’s an easy way to earn some cash and take a well-deserved break from questing.

All lost ark the player should have no problem leveling up their foraging skill, as nodes are often placed a few steps away from the main path between objectives. Just click on one of them and your character will start mining all available resources.

Initially, you can only collect plants, but once you reach level 10 and unlock Vegetation Expert, you can start collecting mushrooms. If you like the simplicity of fishing but don’t want to put your adventures on hold, be sure to take a closer look at foraging.

lost ark takes a unique approach to hunting. Instead of following the game and dispatching them with your basic attacks, you’ll need to slot the Throw ability into your hotbar. This is a projectile attack that only works on game, killing the target and leaving its lead and other items untouched for harvesting.

If you’re having trouble locating targets, you can use the search feature to highlight any wildlife in your area. Reaching higher levels in the skill unlocks hunting and tracking traps, which allow you to passively catch prey or use tracking clues to locate high-level animal hideouts.

Although you have to find specific nodes (not all trees are harvestable), each location offers a wealth of resources. Expert loggers will gain the ability to strike trees and reap special rewards, and reaching level 20 will allow you to plant saplings that will eventually grow into mature, harvestable trees.

Unlike some other trade skills, logging can be tackled with a friend. If you and another player harvest the same node, you’ll start working together to chop down the tree, reaping rewards at an accelerated rate.

Log nodes are scattered across maps, but you’ll most often spot them just along most roads. Be sure to keep an eye on your minimap for small icons that indicate their location.

Mining allows you to collect ore and other materials from mineral veins. Expert miners can place explosives to quickly collect ore, while level 20 unlocks Moonlight Miner, increasing the chance of harvesting special items.

Much like logging, mining nodes can be spotted on your minimap. Keep an eye out for these as you travel, but be aware that mining is often one of the most popular trade skills for newcomers and you might be battling with others for resource nodes.

What is life energy?

Life Energy is a time-based resource needed to use trade skills. It caps out at 10,000 and each trade skill action will reduce this value by a set amount. There are a variety of items in the game that alter your life energy consumption, although it also recharges at a rate of around 4,000 per day.

Due to this limitation, it is in your best interest to start training as soon as possible. Since you’re limited to a set amount of life energy each day, cringing to catch up to later levels isn’t the best tactic.

You’ll also want to focus on one or two trade skills and try to get to level 30 as soon as possible. This will give you access to some of the best resources in the game, as well as a solid source of income if you ever run out of money.

Trade skill locations in Lost Ark

If you’re looking to improve a specific trade skill, you’ll need to pay close attention to your card. By pressing the M The key will open your world map and display your current location. In the upper right corner you will see slots for six icons – one for each of the trade skills. This gives you detailed information about the trade skill slots you will find in that realm. For example, Lakebar in West Luterra offers fishing and mining, but you won’t find any options for digging, logging, hunting, or foraging.

As you move around each location, nodes for logging, mining, and foraging will often appear on your minimap. However, hunting and digging usually do not appear on your map. That means you’ll have to rely on your hotbar’s abilities to help you locate your targets.
