Maryland Department of Natural Resources stocks Charles and Calvert County ponds and Lake with 2,200 trout

[ad_1]

On October 28, 2021, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources stocked two ponds in Calvert and two ponds, a lake in Charles County with 2,200 trout.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and staff safety protocols, planned inventory and allocations may change this year. The annual restocking will be carried out in three bursts: preseason (January and February), from March 15 to 26 and from April 19 to 30. The department has not released a 2021 restocking schedule.

The department will announce the areas that have been stored within a short period of time. All stocked locations that fall under a closed period will be announced prior to the traditional opening day, March 27.

The department posts stock updates on Facebook and Twitter and through its e-mail news service. Finally, anglers can also call 800-688-3467 and press option 1 to get a weekly update recorded when storage is in progress (usually updated on Friday).

As a reminder, new brook trout regulations are now in effect, requiring catch and release fishing only in all launch areas and in all waters east of the Interstate. 81. Anglers should take the time to correctly identify brook trout – which are not stocked by MNR – when fishing in capture and release waters.

Fall storage locations and times can change due to a variety of factors including water temperature, water flow and weather conditions. MNR publishes inventory information online and through social media.

Anglers can sign up to receive stock updates or call a registered hotline at 800-688-3467, which is updated every Friday. Anglers can also sign up for the weekly Maryland Fishing Report, which provides anglers with detailed fishing forecasts.
