The Chamber Minute: Natural Resources Team | Local News

We live in a region rich in natural resources with our forests, sand dunes and ocean. Why 85% of Coos County is forest land. So it only makes sense that your chamber has a natural resources team.

Prior to the pandemic, our team held a joint monthly meeting with the Douglas Timber Operators. We plan to schedule them again after the DTO restarts its coos county meetings next January. These sessions, and our current gatherings, have an educational and action focus on current resource management plans and issues. For the past two years, we have covered the Western Oregon State Management Plan, a Dunes National Recreation Area proposal for off-road designations, the state habitat conservation (HCP) and statewide wildfire protection funding. Just to name a few.
