If the “sea” vitamin is more your thing, then driving along the coastal beaches will certainly soothe your soul. Take a dip along the beaches that line the east coast like King’s Beach on Caloundra in Mooloolaba and Noosa.
Our guide for each option takes between three and four days, but if you’re adventurous you can ride through the outback and then back to Brisbane, past Rainbow Beach to Caloundra.
BACKCOUNTRY ROUTE (BLACKALL RANGE DRIVE)
This route takes you to the Blackall Ranges, 100km north of Brisbane. Pass through quaint little towns and take in the picturesque views before arriving at The Ranges.
From Brisbane, take the M1 motorway and take the official Tourist Drive 23 tourist route (you will see the road signs with 23 on them). This will take you through the towns of Maleny and Montville before ending in Mapleton at the foot of the Ranges.
Stop 1: Maleny
A town surrounded by spectacular rainforests, rolling countryside and the magnificent Glass House Mountains within sight, Maleny pairs its sights with an eclectic arts and culture scene.
The biggest landmark around are the glass house mountains. Protected as a Nationally Significant Landscape, the Glass House Mountains are intrusive plugs formed by volcanic activity around 26 million years ago. It is also home to the Jinibara and Gubbi Gubbi people, indigenous Australians.
